What are the responsibilities of a beta tester?
The main responsibility of a beta test is to make an overall test and review of the new
software while keeping a log of possible questions, observations, features, bugs or
problems experienced during the review. We want to know where users will experience data
entry or end user problems. If and where enhancements to the system should be made. If our
calculations are correct and the data loaded onto the forms correctly. If the look and
feel of the software meet your expectations. If the form output is accurate and visually
correct, etc.
If you find a bug, please fill in the Beta Test Bug Report and fax it to us as soon as
possible so that fixes can be performed and sent out. We would like you to submit your
review of SoftForms SA for Bills of Lading 1.0 by fax (724) 850-8003, Email
programming@softforms.com or letter to: FormSoft Development Corporation, P.O.Box 819,
Greensburg PA 15601.
We would like you to evaluate 7 general program design functions and features: look and
feel; accuracy; functionality; performance; features; output; and documentation/online
help. The following explains each of these topics.
Look & Feel: To evaluate the look & feel of SoftForms S.A. applications, we want
you to review the entry screens, screen organization, cursor movement, ease of use and
overall product use within your current office environment. The objective of this review
is to determine the product's overall appeal to you and your staff.
Accuracy: SoftForms S.A. applications must be 100% accurate on all calculations it makes.
We would like you to check our accuracy by testing the math operations with your own data
and checking it against your own output. We also want you to test the accuracy of data to
form output. This means that we would like you to check things like: does the page number
change correctly, or are the total correct on multiple page BOLs, etc.
Functionality: Does the product perform the design function in a consistent and quality
manner? Does the product meet your expectations and why? Does it provide a complete
solution to your Shipping needs. Are there functions that you don't see but want?
Performance: Does the product perform well? Does it process the data in a timely fashion?
Do the forms print accurately and consistently? Are there additional performance features
you want?
Features: Are all the features built into the product what you expected? If not, what
features would you add?
Output: Do the printed forms meet your expectation of a FormSoft product? Do the field
sizes meet your approval? Are there other fields that you wish to expand or reduce? Have
we provided signature fields where they should be? Are there forms you would like to add?
Is everything printing correctly? What reports (if any) would help you improve your
Shipping transaction? What would you add or change in this version?
Documentation/Online Help: SoftForms SA Shipping will come with only online help. We would
like you to review this to determine where improvements can be made. We would like your
comments on how the online help can be improved to increase your understanding of the
product and reduce the amount of technical support required.
