The
VICS
Bill of Lading Dynamic Link Library (DLL) is an application interface that
provides for the creation and printing of VICS
Bills of Lading.
The interface has been designed so that any Windows application can
communicate with it.
OVERVIEW
The SoftForms VICS Bill of Lading
DLL program allows an existing legacy system to conform to the VICS Bill of
Lading standards. Bills of Lading
can be imported, and printed out on laser or dot-matrix printers.
The basic process is to
extract the required data from existing databases, and create formatted text
files. Each text file can contain
one or more Bills of Lading. These
text files are then imported into batch files and printed.
The term “batch” is used because an input file can contain 1 or
more BOL’s.
VICS BOL features are:
File Manager
(NEW)
The
File Manager can be used if you want to monitor a particular folder for input
files. The File Manager will look for files and automatically create
a batch and print it. You can set
up the time interval, file extension, etc.
(New Features for release 4.3.5- Backup file rename and storage; Walmart and
JCPenny print files;
Print Manager
The
Print Manager will automatically print any batches submitted via the DLL.
Your program will
create batches, print them, and erase them via function calls.
The Print Manager checks the Batch Print Queue and prints any batches
submitted. (New: Save and Reprint Batched)
DLL
Interface
You can
submit text files for input / printing.
You can also generate a VICS-compliant Bill of Lading number.
(New: Compliant with both Example 1 and 3 of the
VICS compliance examples; generate Master/Sub BOLs; Logo and phone
number dynamic insertion: many others for Version 4.3.5)
Bar Code Support
Bar
Code 128 is supported.
VICS compliant bar codes can be generated for the Bill of Lading number
and the Carrier / SCAC code.
Truckload
BOL’s
Truckload Bills of Lading are supported.
A batch can contain a Master BOL and associated Stops.
The DLL input function will insert the appropriate references to the
Underlying BOL’s.
Printer
Override (New)
Each BOL can be routed to different printers
Copies
Override (New)
Each Bill of Lading can have a number of copies
override.
Hazardous
Materials
Hazardous BOL’s can be generated. There is a Hazardous Materials Supplement page.
User-Defined
Fields (New)
There are 4 User-Defined fields. These can be used in the Special Instructions section.
